How do I know if my fibro has asbestos?- It is impossible to tell if your fibro has asbestos or not: the most accurate way to find out is to have EXPERIENCED people inspect and test it
- Fibro products made before 1987 may contain asbestos
- Asbestos fibres are so small they can easily penetrate body tissue
- The fibres are indestructible, and the body's natural defences cannot break them down; its effects can take up to 40 years to become apparent
- Asbestos fibres can cause asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma
- ANY exposure to asbestos must be considered potentially harmful, especially considering the use of asbestos has been widespread in the past: such as in insulation, roofing, walls, fences, pipes, paints and plastics
- Though increased exposure to asbestos increases the risks, one exposure is still enough to cause health problems
